Melasma

What is Melasma?

It’s a chronic skin disorder that results in a blotchy, brownish, symmetrical facial pigmentation.

Your pigment cells produce too much pigment and share it with adjacent cells. Unfortunately, melasma is difficult to treat, and sometimes aggressive treatment can result in more discoloration, especially in those with sensitive skin.

What are the causes?

Sunlight

Pregnancy

Hormone Treatments

(ex. Oral Contraceptives)

Intrauterine devices and implants

Hypothyroidism

... Glycolic, salicylic, and malic acids in Likewise Clarifying Face & Body Wash remove abnormally-pigmented surface skin cells.
