Likewise Skincare has more than just the products you need to ensure a healthier happier you, we also have the answers to many of your frequently asked questions and tackle some of the technical aspects of our product line.

What makes Likewise different than other moisturizing sunscreens?

There’s no point in buying a product that you don’t like to use, even if you know it’s good for you. That’s why Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. Each moisturizer is formulated with skin-balancing toners to work with your specific skin type. We then added just the right combination of anti-aging antioxidants, ultra-protective zinc oxide, and water-resistant ingredients to keep you protected. The best thing we’ve heard about our moisturizers? “Being able to put it on every day and then being able to forget about it.” Check out our testimonials to learn more.

How do I know which Likewise moisturizing sunscreen is right for me?

First, determine your skin type. There are essentially three different types: oily, normal-to-oily, and normal-to-dry skin. Next, select the Likewise moisturizer that best matches your skin type. Keep in mind, however, that your skin can change with the seasons, so you may need two different moisturizers.

What is the difference between UVA1 and UVA2?

Let’s start with ultraviolet (UV) light. UV light is divided into three specific wavebands—UVA, UVB and UVC. Each waveband is classified by its wavelength. UVA is long wavelength UV light, which can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, causing damage at the cellular level. UVA is subdivided into UVA1 and UVA2, which are simply UV rays in the same waveband but with differing wavelengths. UVA1 is believed to be less damaging than UVA2; however, along with UVB, both are believed to be partly responsible for the development of skin cancer. Zinc oxide, with its sunlight-reflecting properties, is the only sunscreen ingredient that protects the skin from all three–UVA1, UVA2 and UVB–rays.

Should I be concerned about getting enough Vitamin D?

Dr. Pena agrees with the official American Academy of Dermatology position on Vitamin D: a healthy diet and supplements are a better choice than the risks of sun exposure. Why is it better to get Vitamin D from a healthy diet and supplements? • More than 2 million nonmelanoma skin cancers are diagnosed annually • One person dies from melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, almost every hour in the United States • UV rays can cause premature aging of the skin and skin cancer • Dietary sources of vitamin D do not prematurely age the skin or increase the risk of developing skin cancer • Vitamin D from food and dietary supplements offers the same benefits — without the danger of skin cancer — as vitamin D obtained from UV light

How often should I reapply Likewise moisturizer?

Use Likewise daily as a daytime and nighttime moisturizer. If you’re going to be out and about during the day between the hours of noon and 3 pm when the sun’s rays are the strongest, we recommend you apply Likewise every two to three hours. If you’re jumping in and out of the water or perspiring heavily in the sun, be sure to apply it every 40 to 60 minutes for maximum water-resistance and sun protection.

Do any of the Likewise products cause skin irritation?

No. Quite the opposite, in fact. All of our products contain soothing, calming ingredients as well as zinc oxide, which in addition to offering superior sun protection, is found in many diaper rash ointments and creams due to its gentle, nonirritating properties.

Do Likewise products contain parabens?

Yes. Parabens are a group of chemicals added as a preservative to the majority of today’s beauty products. The small amount of parabens found in Likewise prevent the growth of mold and fungus and ensure that other ingredients, such as antioxidants and sunscreen, don’t break down and lose their potency. The FDA has not found parabens to be hazardous to your health.

Should I be concerned about the amount of soy in Likewise products? What if I’m allergic to soy?

Soy is added to Likewise products in the form of an isoflavone called genistein. When applied to the skin, genistein functions as a potent and highly beneficial antioxidant. If you were to ingest it, however, it would cause effects in the body similar to those caused by the hormone estrogen. In other words, if you don’t eat our products, you should be just fine!

Are Likewise products safe for children and pregnant women?

Are Likewise products noncomedogenic?
